On a recent trip to the JC Raulston Arboretum in Raleigh, NC, I photographed some lovely plants.

There is always something in bloom at the Arboretum.  The ‘Now Showing’ section on their website features some of the plants currently in bloom, but never everything that looks great.  Click on photos for a description and larger image.

Eucomis 'Sparkling Burgundy'

Eucomis 'Sparkling Burgundy', Pineapple Lily

The genus Eucomis includes some of my favorite plants.

Eucomis autumnalis

This Gloriosa Lily is really cool.

Hesperaloe parviflora

Hesperaloe parviflora, Red Yucca

This Red Yucca towered over my head with its arching flower stalks.

Here are some non-flower images.  There’s a lot more to gardens than flowers, so keep an eye out for interesting fruits, seeds and bark.
